Forest type Classification for Europe (2022, 2024, 2025)

The forest type mapping conducted within the framework of the HORIZON Europe project "Satellites for Wilderness Inspection and Forest Threat Tracking" (SWIFTT) for the European territory in 2022, 2024, 2025. Overall accuracy - 93,2%. The methodology is based on Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 satellite data from the Copernicus program, providing high spatial resolution imagery at 10 meters and Random Forest classifier. The resulting map generated through this study serves as a dependable resource for subsequent analysis, informing management decisions, and facilitating the evaluation and mitigation of land degradation, including monitoring diseases and forest drying, windthrow and wildfires. The products for 2022, 2024, 2025 was harmonized to ensure temporal consistency.
