Offshore wind power curves

Offshore wind power profiles dataset based on the DTU study performed for the NSWPH.

Datasets are available in the following format: wrfts_[country_code]_[turbine_capacity_MW]_[energy_density_MW]_[status].csv. The countries in the dataset are BE, FR, NL, UK, DE, DK, NO. The statusses for each wind area are installed, planned, or available.

For the status installed, the turbine capacity is assumed 4 MW, and the energy density is a given - hence the classification real.

For the status planned, the turbine capacity is assumed 8 MW, and the energy density is also a given - hence the classification real.

For the status available, the turbine capacity is assumed 15 MW, and the energy density is assumed to be either 4 MW/km2 or 8 MW/km2.

Geographical information for each wind area, along with the information available in the .csv files, are given in the shapefile ZIP folder.

Availability of offshore area for wind has been assessed in this study for extreme situations: only the areas currently designated as shipping lane or international environmental protection are considered as not available in this study. Therefore, the wind farm scenarios created for this study are extreme in number and extent, especially for the offshore regions of Northern Great Britain and Norway. These are fabricated scenarios and do not represent the actual government plans for wind farm deployment in the North Sea.
