Bulk soil samples from paleoflood study sites on the southwest portion of the Idaho National
Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) site on the Snake River Plain in southern Idaho
were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. Samples were
collected from trench wall exposures in eolian and alluvial deposits flanking the Big Lost River.
Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified in each of the samples, and potentially
radiocarbon datable material was separated.
