Whole genome sequencing of cellulolytic Bacillus cereus

Fossil fuels depletion and associated environmental, health and security issues have dictated for sustainable alternative biofuels. Second generation bioethanol fermentations are promising. However, to develop economically viable supplies consolidated bioprocesses will be required. In this connection bacteria isolated from environmental sample and capable of saccharifying as well as ethanol fermenting natural lignocellulosic feed stocks are required. This bacterium can convert Poplar leaves and small twigs to bioethanol in a single bioreactor.
