This repository contains the simulation setup files associated with the paper:"Radial pulsation runaway in massive red supergiants in late evolutionary stage and implications for hydrogen-rich supernovae", published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.The archive includes source code, inlist files, and related configuration files required to reproduce the simulations presented in the paper.In the original computations, the source codes are compiled by GNU Fortran (GCC) 12.1.0 on linux PC.All computations were performed using: - MESA version 24.08.1 - MESA SDK version 22.6.1 =DIRECTORY STRUCTUREThe archive consists of 11 directories, named M0130 through M0180, corresponding to initial stellar masses of 13–18 solar masses.Each directory contains the following subdirectories: 1.baseThis directory contains the source code and inlist files for the base models presented in the paper. To run a simulation: ./rn This produces the standard MESA outputs: history.data profile*.data Additional contents: - photos/ : original photo files produced in the simulations - nohup.out : saved standard output from the original run 2.model*These directories contain source and inlist files for short time-step simulations.Each directory includes: - A restart photo file in photos/ (e.g., M0130/model/photos/x00010640) This file is copied from the corresponding base model. These simulations restart from the photo with a reduced timestep limit specified in inlist_common.To run a simulation (e.g, in case of M0130/model1/): ./re x00010640 Outputs: - Standard MESA outputs (history.data, profile*.data) Notes: - Except for M0140 and M0170, each M0??? directory contains 8 models with different initial epochs. - Higher mass models likely to stop before reaching 100 years after the start of the simulation, owing to the developement of large-amplitude pulsations. Check the original standard output (nohup.out) in each directory. =RESOLUTION STUDY MODELS (M0140 and M0170 only)These directories include additional models to test numerical resolution: - dt2_model* Time-step increased by a factor of 2 relative to the fiducial setup - dt05_model* Time-step decreased by a factor of 2 - dm25_model* Higher spatial resolution with: delta_mesh_coefficient = 0.25 (fiducial value: 0.5) =PYTHON SCRIPTThe respository also contains the following plotting script written in Python. - evolution.py: reads and plots the time evolution of the properties of a base model - plot_surface_properties.py : plots the time evolutions of the properties of a short time-step model. - pulse_profile.py : performs period analysis and plots results =NOTES - Restart runs rely on provided photo files and modified timestep controls. - The included nohup.out files document the original execution logs for reproducibility.
