Trueperella pyogenes is a gram positive, rod shaped, non-motile, non-spore forming facultative anaerobe and is a common inhabitant of the of the upper respiratory, urogenital, and gastrointestinal tracts of dairy and beef cattle. T. pyogenes can also act as an opportunistic pathogen and has been implicated in a multitude of diseases including; multi organ abscess formation, mastitis, metritis, endometritis, infertility, abortion, pneumonia, endocarditis, arthritis and osteomyelitis.
