(Mus musculus strain BALB/c) Wild-type mice were aged to 2, 12, 18 and 24 months of age. The mice were sacrificed and their brains dissected. Coronal sections of the left brain hemispheres were cut using a brain matrix (WPI) for precision. The brain area of interest was identified using a mouse brain atlas. The rills in the matrix enabled cutting a selected 2 mm section of each brain using a razorblade. The chosen area contains motor cortex, somatosensory cortex and striatum. RNA was extracted and sequencing was performed on HiSeq 2500 using v4 SBS sequencing kits with readlengths at 2x125 cycles.
