Documentation of the data and code supporting the Short Communications article “Dry root preservation: a field-friendly method for assessing tree arbuscular mycorrhizal colonization” submitted to the journal Rhizosphere (Giraldo-Kalil et al. 2025) The folder “Micorrizas” is the root directory and contains the data, R script, and directories to replicate all the statistical analyses, tables, figures, and supplementary material reported in the article. The R script was created by Laura J. Giraldo Kalil and edited using ChatGPT to visualize and perform statistical analysis for comparing mycorrhizal colonization in fine roots of 23 woody species abundant in the Chamela Biosphere Reserve (Jalisco, Mexico) in oven-dried and ethanol-preserved samples. The statistical analyses include logistic regressions, Wilcoxon tests, standardized major axis regressions, Spearman correlations, and normality tests. All data analyses were conducted within an R Project for reproducibility and consistent file paths. The project file “Micorrizas.Rproj” is contained in the root directory. First, open this file in RStudio to set the project’s root directory, ensuring that all script paths work. Next, open the script "AMF_colonization.R" (path: Micorrizas/scripts_micorrizas). Run the script to reproduce the article’s statistical analysis. The script will install and load required packages automatically and create folders for organizing the output files.
