This draft genome of Upland Soil Cluster alphaproteobacteria possesses genes encoding for particulate methane monooxygenase, and is believed to be responsible for the observed CH4 removal from the atmosphere at Axel Heiberg Island, Canada. The draft genome was assembled from the metagenomes of high Arctic active layer. The raw reads of metagenomes are deposited under RunID SRR1586268 as part of the BioProject PRJNA261849 and SRA ID SRP047512.
