Putative novel alphatetra-like, orthomyxo-like, chu-like tick viruses. Ixodida

Tick-borne viruses remain a substantial zoonotic risk worldwide. Despite this, numerous tick-borne viruses are still unknown to us or poorly characterised. The study re-examined currently known tick-borne viruses and identified putative novel viruses associated with ticks in public datasets. From published ticks transcriptome shotgun assembly, we identified 11 putative novel RNA viral contigs. These putative novel viral contigs were classified into three RNA viral families (Alphatetraviridae, Orthomyxoviridae, Chuviridae) and clustered with known tick-borne viruses. These data add considerably to our knowledge of tick virus diversity.
