With all aforementioned advances, our findings demonstrated that oral administration of L. lactis-GLP-1-DA@GN could effectively mitigate T2DM in mice by alleviating hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia symptoms, restoring damage of pancreas, liver, and kidney, positively modulating gut microbiota, promoting SCFAs production, and improving the hepatic function via gut-liver axis. This study introduces the thought of remolding probiotics based on genetic engineering and biorthogonal arming, providing useful insights into empowering probiotics to better fulfill requirements for various disease treatments.
