资源简介:
Data set for Investigation on Dilute Solution Viscosity Behavior of Alkyd Resin Solutions in three different organic solvents at different temperatures.
This study investigated the solution viscosities of soybean oil-modified alkyd resin in the organic solvents: benzene, toluene, and xylene at 45, 55, and 65ᴼC. Viscosity measurements were conducted using a Canon-Fenske viscometer, size 50. The reduced viscosities of alkyd solutions in benzene exhibited a general increase with solution concentrations at C = 0.40 to 1.0 g/dl at all temperatures investigated. Similar observations in reduced viscosity at 45ᴼC were noted in xylene at C = 0.4 to 0.80 g/dl. The highest reduced viscosities were consistently observed in benzene, irrespective of solution concentrations and temperatures. Negative reduced viscosity values which decreased with increasing solution concentrations were observed for alkyd solutions in toluene (C < 1.0 g/dl), and xylene (C < 1.0 g/dl) at 55, and 65ᴼC. Benzene exhibited the highest intrinsic viscosity values [ɳ] for alkyd solutions at the temperatures studied while toluene was the least. Thus, the thinning of alkyd paints with benzene is suggested for optimal paint flow where positive solvent-polymer interaction is anticipated.
