The potential impact of EDCs on MS, the activity of this enzyme in neuroblastoma (Neuro2A) cells with no exposure to EDC’s was measured obtaining a concentration of 2.3 ± 0.06 nmol/(min*mg of protein). This value was significantly higher when compared to Neuro2A cells exposed to endocrine disruptors.The MS specific activities observed on Neuro2A line cell exposed to DEHP, MBP and OP phthalates were 1.2 ± 0.06 nmol/(min* mg of protein), 0.79 ± 0.03 nmol/(min* mg of protein) and 1.3 ± 0.11 nmol/(min* mg of protein) respectively.On the other hand, BPA is a compound with two phenolic rings (benzene with an OH group) linked centrally to a propane moiety symmetrically. The observed MS activity in presence of this EDC was 1.51 ± 0.03 nmol/(min* mg of protein) as a result of 24 h exposure, which is significantly lower to control conditions while its effects were less marked than those of MBP.
