The tool provided here can be used to optimize the topology of additively manufactured components in terms of weight reduction while integrating particle damping.
The basic functionality of the optimization and the effect of particle damping are described in the accompanying publication:

The optimization can be carried out in Abaqus. Abaqus is controlled by the scripts listed below.
This repository entry contains the following files:
* “TopologyAndParticleDampingOptimization.py”: Abaqus script for topology optimization and integration of particle damping
* “TopologyOptimization.py”: Abaqus script for pure topology optimization
* “AbaqusMacroForSTLExport.py”: Abaqus script for automated export of individual functional areas (solid, PD, void) from Abaqus as STL
* “AbaqusMacroForVisualization.py”: Abaqus script for visualization of optimization results
