"Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted an intensive cultural resources survey of the 44-
acre American LaFrance Tract in Charleston County, South Carolina, in May 2006. These
investigations involved background research, systematic shovel testing, and visual inspection of the
tract. The cultural resources survey was undertaken to provide information concerning the kinds of
cultural resources present on the tract and how these resources may be affected by the construction
of the American LaFrance assembly plant. This cultural resources survey was conducted in
compliance with current state and federal regulations concerning the management of cultural
resources in the Coastal Zone of South Carolina as administered by the regulatory programs of the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (33CRF Part 325) and the South Carolina Office of Ocean and
Coastal Resource Management (15 CFR 930)."
