This systematic review of the literature aimed to analyse the theoretical foundations that underpin SEC interventions in initial teacher training programs, to characterize the types of interventions implemented, to describe the strategies and activities used, and to synthesize findings, limitations, and projections for future research. Fifteen empirical studies examining intervention programs designed to foster the development of social and emotional competences (SEC) in pedagogy students were reviewed. The findings show that most interventions generate significant improvements in competences such as emotion recognition, emotional self-regulation, decision-making, and self-awareness, in addition to impacts on other dimensions such as teaching effectiveness, analytical skills, digital competence, and education for sustainability and gender equality.
