Klebsiella pneumoniae is a priority pathogen that infects humans and animals, been widely associated with hospital-acquired infections in immunocompromised patients. In this respect, the whole-genome sequencing of a high risk virulent and NDM-1-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae ST11 causing urinary tract infection in a human patient has given insights to better understand such a clinically significant pathogen.
