资源简介:
This supplementary Dataset contains X-Ray microscopic images of powder metallurgical produced AlSi10Mg foams. The data is available as DICOM files in zip format.
Four metallic AlSi10Mg foams were produced under identical conditions. Powder mixtures of 25 g consisting of AlSi10Mg-powder (Eckart TLS GmbH, Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany, d10=25 µm / d50=42 µm / d90=65 µm) and 0,7 wt.-% titanium hydride (Werth-Metall, Grammetal, Germany) were uniaxially compacted under a load of approx. 800 MPa at 350 °C for 30 min to precursors. Before mixing, the titanium hydride powder underwent heat treatment at 480 °C for 180 min under air. After compacting, each precursor had a diameter of 35 mm and a height of approx. 10 mm. For foaming, the precursors were placed in a resistance furnace at 730 °C for 6 min and 45 min. The foams were then cooled in ambient air and cut into specimens measuring 20 mm in length, 20 mm in width, and 15–19 mm in height by means of wire electrical discharge machining.
The foam structure of each specimen was analyzed by X-ray microscopy (XRM) using an Xradia 520 Versa (Carl Zeiss AG, Oberkochen, Germany). Scans were acquired at 140 kV and 10 W, with an exposure time of 0,037 s using an HE1 filter and a flat panel. The reconstructed data featured a voxel size of 16,7 µm in all three dimensions.
Each dataset represents a reconstructed XRM scan of one metal foam. The four datasets are named according to the format “AlSi10Mg_foam_XRM_6min45sec_730°C_TRR375_B02_noX”.
This work was funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) – Project-ID 511263698 – TRR 375.
The Xradia 520 Versa used in this study was also funded by the DFG (grant no. 316923185).
