This dataset features the results of thirteen experiments aimed at the preliminary assessment of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions under thermal stress (20-55 °C) from geologic samples, specifically Miocene lagoonal clays gathered at the Cessaniti fossiliferous site in Vibo Valentia, Calabria, Southern Italy (Lat: 38.654 N; Lon: 16.036 E; Elev: ~410 m ASL). The experiments were performed at CNR-ISAC Lamezia Terme's laboratory between 2024 and 2025, using a Picarro G2401 CRDS analyzer. Temperature was measured using ad hoc built-in sensors. The samples were placed inside a sealed 1.7 L container and subject to continuous nitrogen injection to remove external ambient air during all phases of the experiment. One of the experiments was performed using an empty container to verify the stability and reliability of the experimental setup. No CO (carbon monoxide) and CH4 (methane) were measured during these experiments.
