Fetal and trophoblast PI3K p110a have distinct roles in regulating resource supply to the growing fetus

Using RNA-seq we identified several genes downstream of p110a in the trophoblast that are important in adapting placental phenotype to support fetal growth. Overall design: This was achieved by comparing the transcriptomes of 5 Het-U (heterozygous deficient in p110a in both fetal and trophoblast lineages) and 4 Hom-P (heterozygous deficient in p110a in fetal lineage and homozygous deficient in p110a in trophoblast) placentas placentas at day 19 of pregnancy.
