S. cerevisiae suppressor mutant strains were derived from pds5 elg1 strains carrying a PDS5-URA3 plasmid. 5FOA-resistant mutant strains able to grow in the absence of cohesin factor Pds5 were isolated and whole genome sequenced; the results cast new light on the mechanisms by which cohesin works in the cell.
