Shigella_evolution_in_India

While a lot of progress has been made in understanding global Shigella evolution and spread, little epidemiological data has been available from India. We are collaborating with the Christian Medical College to understand the evolution and AMR in Shigella infections in Southern India. We envisage using whole genome sequencing and compare the data with the global framework that Sanger Institute already has. The collection, a mix of S. flexneri, S. sonnei and S. dysenteriae, spans more than 20 years and is particularly interesting because it comes from a relatively better developed part of India.
