Van_Gogh_Entrance_to_a_Quarry_Analysis
This dataset presents a detailed forensic and stylistic analysis of Vincent van Gogh's *Quarry Entrance* (1889) and *Tree Oil Painting* (undated and unattributed). Employing 11 advanced analytical techniques including Sobel edge detection, gesture heatmaps, overlay mapping, pixel-based energy similarity, texture grain recognition, stroke length clustering, and a complete 18-point AI neural matching system, this study examines the similarities in deep structure, gestural and motor behaviors between the two works. Key highlights include a weighted average similarity score of 90.4% across all primary methods, and a neural matching score of 96.2%. These metrics confirm structural rhythm, torque architecture, and stroke energy rhythm. Overlayed edge mapping reveals direct contour alignment between the brushstrokes. Gestural flow, wrist directionality, and dynamic rhythm exhibit high consistency. Texture and surface pressure structures align after correcting for the effects of varnish. The study also documents that human visual inspections in 2018 identified brushstroke rhythms prior to AI validation. This research extends beyond visual similarity, tracing the unconscious physical signatures, brushstroke rhythms, and directional muscle memory embedded within each canvas.
