The effect of crude oil concentration on hydrocarbon degradation and associated bacterial communities under experimental conditions

This study aimed to quantify the impact of crude oil concentrations ranging from 1 to 1000 mg L-1 on biodegradation and microbial community composition in dispersed versus non-dispersed crude oil. The main goal of this study was to highlight how increasing crude oil concentrations impacted dispersant use effectiveness and the impact this had on marine microbial communities.This was to better inform response industries on the impact of chemical dispersant use on bioremediation and how our natural marine environment responds to such remediation strategies.
