HydroGeoSphere model results for the Bear Brook watershed under different mesh-based hydrologic conditioning schemes

Five transient simulations were conducted with a HydroGeoSphere model of the Bear Brook watershed in Eastern Ontario. For each simulation, the nodal mesh surface elevations received different forms of hydrologic conditioning: No conditioning, Pit filling, Laplacian smoothing, Stream burning, and Pit filling + stream burning. The model outputs illustrate how the the model behaviour changed under each scenario. The model output files are organized into time series files (NetCDF CF format) and finite element nodal/elemental variable files (NetCDF UGRID+CF). For the finite element files, the subsurface (porous media / pm domain) files are stored separately from the overland flow (olf) domain files. The Bear Brook HydroGeoSphere model was cut out from the larger HydroGeoSphere model of the South Nation River watershed (Aziz et al., 2025).
