Rebel offensives for state capture (1945-2021)

A new global dataset on all offensives by rebel groups on a national capital of a recognised state in intrastate conflicts from 1945 to 2021. The dataset includes variables for rebel negotiation, military velocity and outcome, political inclusivity of the rebel group, and recognition year of new rebel governments. 50 dyads of attempts by a rebel group to capture a national capital are identified, which are then disaggregated into a second time-series dataset.
