Draft mitochondrial genomes of African tomato leafminer Phthorimaea absoluta

Annotated draft mitochondrial genomes of Phthorimaea absoluta from Malawi and South Africa to infer global invasion biology of this transboundary lepidopteran crop pest.\nLineage: Genomic DNA from field collected individuals were whole genome sequenced at the John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. Whole genome sequencing of these libraries was performed on an Illumina NextSeq 2000 sequencer, P1 flowcell, (2 x 300bp, PE). Assembly of the draft mitochondrial genomes used the Geneious Mapper program with default settings (Algorithm: Auto; Scoring matrix: 200PAM / K = 2; Gap open penalty: 1.53; Offset value: 0.123) within Geneious Prime (v11.1.5 from Biomatters Ltd, Auckland, NZ). Annotation was carried out using MITOS with manual fine tuning as required.
