SHRP2 Entrance and Exit Ramps Time Series (TTI-01-03)

Project Description: “Comparison of SHRP2 Naturalistic Driving Data to Geometric Design Speed Characteristics on Freeway Ramps” was a study sponsored by SAFE-D that examined data on freeway ramps from the SHRP2 NDS – speed profiles along with selected driver and vehicle variables – and compared that data to the design characteristics of the ramps traveled during the study. The objective of the comparison was to identify relationships between the factors used to select freeway ramp design speed (e.g., radius) and the actual speeds of drivers traveling on those ramps. Data Scope: This dataset is composed of kinematic time series data for over 10,000 trips occurring on 100 freeway ramps. All variables beginning with “vtti” and the system time stamp variable were given to the researchers upon request. All other variables were observed by the researchers and added to the data set.
