These data were collected to study how plant traits (specific leaf area, leaf dry matter content, leaf carbon and nitrogen concentrations) vary within and between plant species in plant communities of different plant diversity. The data were collected twice during the growing season (late May, late August). The project was funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (315230E-131194) and the German Research Foundation (FOR456/1451).
