资源简介:
"The Murchison Cataracts, Laws of Livingstonia" Photograph of the Murchison waterfalls in Malawi. The falls, which were named after the geologist Sir Roderick Murchison, are formed of The Shire, a river in east central Africa. A group of people can be seen sitting on the rocks to the left of the falls.; This belongs to a series of Church of Scotland Foreign Missions Committee lantern slides relating to Dr Robert Laws (1851-1934) the Scottish Missionary. In 1875, inspired by David Livingstone (1813-1873), Laws travelled to Malawi and was involved in the foundation of the mission station of Livingstonia on the shores of Lake Nyasa. During the succeeding 50 years he also established a network of hundreds of schools. In 1908 Laws was elected moderator of the General Assembly of the United Free Church of Scotland.
