Southern Surveyor Voyage SS 03/96 HPLC Pigment and Ocean Colour Data

This record contains data collected at 24 stations on the Southern Surveyor cruise SS 03/96. Water samples were collected off the east coast of NSW near Eden and along a transect from Hobart to Eden to determine the bio-optical characteristics of water masses in this region. Parameters measured are the concentration of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments and the absorption coefficient for dissolved (CDOM) particulate (a/p) and detrital or non-algal (a/d) components of the water column. In addition to the station samples 124 water samples were collected from the outflow of the underway fluorometer and analysed for the concentration of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments only. A BI(Biospherical Instruments) six channel radiometer was also deployed at the stations during this voyage.
