The genus Cymbidium in Orchidaceae is well known for its unique traits in vegetation, floral morphology, flower colour and scent. Here, we present a chromosome-scale assembly of the genome of Cymbidium ensifolium. A total of 84.89 Gb of clean reads with 350 bp insert libraries ranging in size from 150 bp were generated by Illumina, the estimated genome size was 3.56 Gb with heterozygosity of 1.4%. PacBio technologies were employed and generated 351 Gb of sequencing data. Finally, we generated a reference-quality genome of C. ensifolium with chromosome level assembly.
