Vitellibacter vladivostokensis KMM 3516 (=NBRC 16718T) was originally isolated from gut of the holothurian Apostichopus japonicas which were collected in Troitsa Bay, in the Gulf of Peter the Great (Sea of Japan) in November 1997. The strain was characterised as a Gram-negative novel heterotrophic bacterium, strictly aerobic, yellow-orange pigmented, non-motile, asporogenic which were deposited in Collection of Marine Microorganisms (KMM) as the type strain Vitellibacter vladivostokensis (Nedashkovskaya et al 2003). The genome sequence of Vitellibacter vladivostokensis was sequenced.
