Mobile Money Phone Scam Survey Dataset
收藏资源简介:
This dataset documents reported mobile money scams and users’ experiences in Cameroon. It contains two distinct collections that should be analyzed separately. The 2025 field survey contains 800 questionnaire responses collected in Dang, Ngaoundéré, and surrounding areas. It records mobile money use, scam awareness, victimization, financial losses, reporting behavior, and prevention needs. The 2026 collection contains 30 retained online questionnaire responses and 130 narratives. Of these narratives, 25 are anonymized transcriptions of interviews recorded in Ngaoundéré, and 105 are summaries of accounts published online. Each online summary is accompanied by a source URL. The sources include news articles, forums, and reporting platforms from several African countries; they are not limited to Signal-Arnaques and cirt.cm. These online accounts were not collected from participants in the Ngaoundéré field survey. The 25 original audio recordings are not publicly deposited because they contain personal information. Requests to consult them for source verification may be considered subject to participant consent and confidentiality safeguards. The dataset is intended for academic research on cybersecurity, digital finance, fraud prevention, and user awareness. The 2026 records are not included in the statistics calculated from the 800 responses collected in 2025. The online accounts describe reported incidents; their inclusion does not independently verify that each incident occurred.
