TF11.5.3 c Springvale Erosion Management Plan Implementation (DES18004c - Native Seed Collection Program)

Implementation of the Springvale Station Erosion Management Plan requires 5 broadly related activities to be undertaken at various times during the year. Some activities will have consecutive tasks such as works design followed by earthworks construction when soil and weather conditions allow, while others are dependent on appropriate vegetation life cycles such as native species seed collection. The activities were identified in the EMP (provided or attached), which was completed by erosion management specialists.
The goods and services will deliver on Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan and in particular aiming to improve the quality of water entering the northern Great Barrier Reef.
It is unlikely that the services are unable to be purchased, however climatic conditions may impact on the ability to achieve delivery of all services.
Avenues are being explored with other Departments that may assist us to ensure the process is more efficient. For example there may be design and or project management activities that could be supported by the Departments of Main Roads or/and Primary Industries and Fisheries.
The asset owner within the Department is Conservation and Sustainability Services and they are undertaking a range of property management activities, however the activities identified in this procurement require skills and experience not presently available within the Department.
The following implementation objectives are
1) Implement activities at road erosion and associated gully demonstration sites
2) Implement activities at young (linear) advancing alluvial gully demonstration sites
3) Commence a native seed collection program to support ongoing rehabilitation and remediation
4) Commence activities to improve gully prioritisation and site planning
5) Building capacity of local providers, in particular Traditional Owner groups.
