The bridge structure is located in Ashford, in Western New York and consists of two 72-feet long adjacent single lane girder bridges constructed six feet apart and supported on low damping elastomeric bearings. A hydraulic actuator spans the gap between the two bridges and can slowly push them apart at the design displacement whereas; upon sudden release the two spans are subjected to free vibration. The test will be repeated weekly to monitor and observe the performance of the isolation devices.
