Geochemical and metabarcoding datasets from long-term iron sulfide incubation experiments under simulated early Earth conditions

This repository contains the geochemical measurements and metabarcoding datasets supporting a study investigating microbial community responses to different iron sulfide substrates under simulated early Earth conditions. Marine microbial mat inocula were incubated under anoxic, saline, and sulfide-rich conditions designed to promote heterotrophic, lithotrophic, and phototrophic growth over an eight-month period. The repository includes geochemical monitoring data, processed amplicon sequencing data (ASV abundance tables and taxonomy assignments), SEM images and Raman spectroscopical data required to reproduce the figures and statistical analyses presented in the associated manuscript. Raw sequencing reads for the metagenomic section of the article have been deposited in the NCBI Sequence Read Archive under BioProject PRJNA1483885.
