Black and white photograph showing some of the nurses, European missionaries, and babies cared for at the Methodist Missionary Society hospital at Ama Achara, southeast Nigeria. The group poses in front of one of the single-storey hospital buildings. Four Nigerian nurses in white uniforms stand in the group, with two female European missionaries wearing pith helmets or wide-rimmed hats. Another Nigerian woman in an apron and head-scarf (who may be part of the domestic staff) also stands with the group. Five babies are pictured. This photograph was pasted into one of a series of exercise book albums created by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Ama Achara Methodist Hospital.
