资源简介:
This study shows that extremophile fungal endophytes isolated from the roots of an Antarctic plant establish functional symbiosis with two endangered tree species (Nothofagaceae), improving its physiological performance, survival experiment, modelling tool and soil metagenomic analysis. Endemic to the Maulino forest (35-36S), Nothofagus spp. are some of the most endangered Chilean trees due to high replacement rates of its occupied area with commercial forestry species such as Pinus radiata and Eucalyptus spp., and its low reproductive success. Due to its high vulnerability, this species needs urgent actions to restore its threatened forests. Therefore, root inoculation with harsh-adapted root endophytes influences two endangered tree species by improving its establishment under a restoration assay with evident application in a conservation initiative. Finally, here we give a multi-faceted approach, coupling ecophysiological measurements and a greenhouse experiment, niche modelling, field trials, and soil biota sampling.
