Most Complained-About Vehicles: NHTSA Owner Complaints by Make, Model and Model Year, 2010-2025 (Q3 2026 Edition)

Owner complaints filed with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), counted per make, model and model year for model years 2010 to 2025, with the component owners named most. Source: NHTSA's consumer complaint database (copy dated 2026-08-25). Method. Each complaint is counted once per make, model and model year, deduplicated on the complaint number, and once under each component it names. Make, model and model year combinations with fewer than 10 complaints are left out. Model names are kept exactly as NHTSA records them; name variants are not merged. The file covers every vehicle type NHTSA takes complaints for, so a few motorcycles, RVs and trailers sit among the cars, SUVs and pickups. Limits. Counts are not failure rates (there is no sales data in the file). Filing is voluntary and NHTSA does not confirm each owner's diagnosis, and older model years have had more time to collect reports. Files. Every make, model and model year with at least 10 complaints, one row per component, all components (CSV, 90,254 rows); the ranked top 100 (JSON); the report as published (PDF, revision 2); the build script that rebuilds the CSV from NHTSA's 2026-08-25 flat file, a manifest with checksums, and a changelog.
