Fraser River Delta Lower Slope Multibeam Non-rotating Sonar Deployed 2017-11-04

The ARIS Explorer 3000 (S/N 1099) was deployed on 2017-11-04 at Fraser River Delta Lower Slope. This site is located on the lower slope of the Fraser River delta, where depth is approximately 150 metres. This device is a Multibeam Non-rotating Sonar. Multibeam non-rotating sonars transmit a pulse at a certain frequency along a number of narrow beams. The sonar processor looks at the return signal for each pulse and decides where along that pulse return time lays the strongest return, giving a single point in space, such as water column depth. It was deployed on a fixed platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Networks Canada's Oceans 3.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.
