A draft genome of the field vole (Microtus agrestis)

The ecology of the field vole (Microtus agrestis) has been studied for many decades, including its interaction with its pathogen community. A draft genome was generated to help understand the evolution of immune genes and provide a resource for the development of immunological reagents. Three fragment libraries were prepared and sequenced to generate a reference guided assembly against the Praire vole genome (Microtus ochrogaster) available from the Broad Institute.
