We investigated gene expression changes in the cardiac tissue of a transgenic mouse model overexpressing Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha isoform 4 (PGC-1a4) specifically in cardiomyocytes at the neonatal stage and at the age of four weeks. Overall design: Mice carrying Myh6-cre transgene were crossed with mice carrying floxed Pgc-1a4 transgene in Rosa26 locus to produce animals with cardiomyocyte-specific Pgc-1a4 overexpression. Male mice positive for both transgenes were sacrificed at the age of 1-2 days (neonatal) and at the age of four weeks, and ventricular part of neonatal and left ventricle of 4-week-old animals were flash frozen in liquid nitrogen. Mice positive only for floxed Pgc-1a4 transgene were used as a control. Number of replicates for each experimental group is four.
