Long-term records of precipitation chemistry reflect the sampling effort and
laboratory analysis initiated in 1969. The study examines nutrient inputs via
precipitation in small watersheds and examines nutrient budgets. The original
objective was to evaluate the significance of nutrient inputs and outputs from
a forest soil-plant system after timber harvest. The study has evolved into a
general monitoring effort for precipitation chemistry that is among the least
contaminated of any within the USA. This study is conducted in conjunction with
Andrews streamflow chemistry (CF02) and the U.S. National Atmospheric
Deposition Program (NADP) (CP01).
