Ciona robusta breed:wild Transcriptome or Gene expression

This study investigated the gut physiology of the ascidian Ciona robusta, targeting three distinct sections of the gastrointestinal tract, i.e. the stomach, the proximal and the distal intestine, in three biological replicates. The analysis of the transcriptional profiles revealed the presece of several key conserved molecular players signaling in fundamental pathways like WNT, Notch, and TGF-beta-BMP. This supports Ciona as a reliable model for comparative evolutionary studies and for future investigations on gut environmental responses in animals.
