BCAST IDS dataset

This dataset has been created using a novel NIDS called BCAST IDS installed in a Raspberry Pi (sensor). Particularly, the sensor listened to network traffic via their network interface card (NIC) every 10 seconds. The dataset reflects the network activity of a real branch office with 29 active machines connected to the same broadcast domain for four hours of activity. During this time interval, various types of activities were carried out (browsing, emailing, file transfers, etc.) in each machine to ensure that the dataset reflected a wide range of harmless behavior. Moreover, automated IP address scanning, local network reconnaissance and DoS attacks were performed by another machine using nmap, netdiscover, and arp-scan commands to generate anomalies in the captured data.
