Attitudes towards digital education. Topics: attitude towards the following statements on digital skills: essential for learning and education, essential to have a successful career, expanding digital skills training is important to improve the economy of the own country, digital skills and digital literacy help protect people from being misled by online disinformation, are essential for participation in society, necessary to be able to use generative AI tools; most important reasons preventing young people from developing their digital skills; attitude towards selected statements on digital skills: should be taught to everyone in schools and universities, teaching of digital skills should start at an early age, should receive the same amount of attention at school as reading or mathematics and science, parents and families have a crucial role in teaching their children how to use technology safely and responsibly; attitude towards the following statements on digital technologies: can make education and training more accessible and inclusive, can make education and training more innovative, can be used to provide students access to tailored learning to meet their individual needs, online learning can benefit lifelong learning by providing continuous access to education and training, can break down barriers to learning for people with disabilities, can increase inequalities in education, are too expensive for families; attitude towards selected statements: existence of a healthy balance between teaching and learning with and without digital technologies in schools in the own country, schools should teach young people how to manage the impact of digital technologies on their mental and physical health, personal digital devices should be banned from schools, digital technologies specifically designed for learning should be promoted in schools; attitude towards the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education: does not belong in the classroom, can benefit and bring risks to teaching and learning and should therefore be assessed and explored by the education community, can improve teaching and learning; preconditions to guarantee appropriate use of AI in education: common EU rules, schools should help young people to understand and use AI, teachers should be given support to know how and when to use AI tools, clear guidance for schools and universities, AI tools used in the classroom should be developed specifically for educational purposes, other; attitude towards the following statement: everyone will need to be AI-literate in 2030; attitude towards the following statements: all teachers should be equipped with the skills to help students in recognising various forms of disinformation online, teachers should play a key role in supporting children in developing the skills needed for interacting safely with technology, schools need more support to safeguard students’ privacy and prevent cybersecurity threats, parents should be given guidance on how to support their children in developing the skills needed for interacting safely with technology, all teachers should be equipped with the skills to use and understand artificial intelligence (AI); awareness of the type of personal data being collected when using digital learning tools; concern about the following risks related to the use of digital tools for education or learning: personal data being used without the knowledge of the person concerned, personal data being shared with third parties without individual’s consent, personal data being used to send unwanted commercial offers, tracking of personal behaviour without consent, data breaches or identity theft, other; best ways of EU support for successful digital education across EU member states.
