Summary of Herring Archaeological Sites in Southeast Alaska, Butler, V.

Data are presented in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, comprised of six worksheets, that contain summary information about archaeological sites in southeast
Alaska most of which that were subject to some subsurface testing, and therefore have the potential for containing faunal remains, particularly herring. Each row
represents an archaeological site. Each field includes background characteristics of the archaeological site, excavation and analysis methods.
The data were culled from project reports between summer 2008 and January 2009. The actual archaeological records represent ancient cultural sites extending over 9000 years.
These datasets were archived as part of the North Pacific Research Board legacy project recovery effort undertaken by Axiom Data Science and NPRB in 2025. The goal of the recovery effort was to assess the NPRB-funded data projects from 2002 to 2014 and archive final data packages that were ready for publication to increase long-term accessibility and discoverability. Data packages were archived as is given limited funding and resources.
