Brand-new 2.9 Ah Panasonic 18650PF battery cells were tested in an 8 cu.ft thermal chamber for this test campaign. The test setup utilized a general-purpose battery tester channel rated for 25 A and 18 V, equipped with a Digatron ignition circuit.
A series of tests were conducted at five distinct temperatures, including the Hybrid Pulse Power Characterization (HPPC) test, driving cycle tests, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. After each test, the cells were charged at a 1C rate to 4.2 V, with charging terminated when the current dropped to 50 mA, and the battery temperature was maintained at 12 ℃ or higher.
