We propose XMM-Newton observations of the Compton-thick wind-fed Supergiant X-ray binary openParSGXBclosePar 4U 1909+07 openParhereafter 4U1909closePar for 20openPar35closePar ks during the maximum openParminimumclosePar of its 15.2 day superorbital cycle. With the first XMM observation of the source we will test the physical mechanisms driving its 15.2 day modulation comma in particular whether it is caused by Corotation Interaction Regions openParhereafter comma CIRsclosePar. By constraining the Fe fluorescence complex at different superorbital phases we will probe large-scale openParhigh density and velocityclosePar structures threading the wind of the B0-3 I donor star. Additionally comma the large effective area and excellent timing resolution of EPIC will allow us to probe superorbital changes in the size and geometry of the circumstellar material by measuring changes in pul
